Talks and presentations in the Chapel
Talks and presentations in the Chapel, which are organised by the Secretary of the Friends of St George’s Chapel, are free to attend. After the talk, donations are requested, which go to the Speaker’s chosen charity and to support services in the Chapel.
The talks are on the 1st Saturday of the month and commence at 2.15pm.

1st June 2.15pm Captain Peter Adams - ’The Goldfish and Caterpillar Club.'
The Goldfish Club is a worldwide association of people who have escaped from an aircraft, landed in water and whose lives were saved by a life jacket, inflatable dingy or similar equipment. It was formed in November 1942.
The Caterpillar Club was formed in Canada in 1922. Their members are those who used a parachute sucessfully, to bail out of a damaged aircraft in flight.
6th July 2.15pm John Callaghan - ' The V1 , the Flying Bomb'
John will tell us about the V1, also known as the Doodlebug and the Buzz Bomb. Discover RAF Biggin Hill's new role in WW ll
3rd August 2.15pm Norman Bryce - ' Croydon Airport'.
The talk will be about the history of Croydon Airport, its development and the role it played in WW ll as a station with Biggin Hill, in Group 11.
7th September 2.15pm Linda Duffield - 'WAAFS, Brides and Widows'
Linda will tell us about those women who served at RAF Kenley, met their husbands to be, and became widows in WW ll. RAF Kenley was a Headquarter Station in Group 11
5th October 2.15pm Mary Smith - ‘A school girl's war.'
This talk features the lives of the girls at Maidstone Girls School during WW ll, illustrated by drawings, paintings and diaries kept a the time. It is a fascinating insight of the lives of those at school, who lived and learned under the fighting aircraft flying over head.
2nd November 2.15pm Captain Peter Adams - 'Fund Raising for RAF Charities‘,
The events, people he has met, whilst fundraising for over 40 years.
14th December 2 - 4pm A Christmas Concert.
An afternoon of music, comedy and carols. Refreshments will be available.
