D Day Display in the Chapel
100th Anniversary of the Royal Canadian Airforce
Nick Oram gave a talk on the 4th May in the Chapel about the 100th Anniversary of the founding of the Royal Canadian Airforce and the 80th Anniversary of Royal Canadian Air Force at Biggin Hill.
A magnificent display commemorating their service at Biggin Hill, is at the back of the Chapel.(courtesy of the FSGC).
Many Canadians died flying from the Biggin Hill Sector and their names are on the Reredos.
Mothering Sunday
A special Morning Service took place today for those who attended. It was led by Licensed Lay Minister David Jefferys. He gave a sermon, bringing together all the aspects of the original meaning of Mothering Sunday, motherhood and Mary the Mother of God, given to us as our Mother too, when Jesus spoke to John, on the cross.
Posies of flowers were distributed, each with a prayer attached.
A very informative display was on the FSGC 'Changing Themes' boards at the back of the Chapel, arranged by Margaret Wilmot. It depicted women, unknown to the majority, who achieved greatness such as - Sojourner Truth, Kathy Headlee, Irene Sendler, and Nancy Edison, mother of Thomas Edison.
