St George's Day Service with the Friends 26 April 26
It was a lovely sunny bright day for the 35th Anniversary service of the Friends of St George's Chapel. FSGC was formed in 1991 before the Royal Air Force Biggin Hill. The Officiating Minister was LLM Councillor Dr David Jefferys, who gave a very informative account of the life of St George. Mayor Jonathan Andrews read a lesson. Mayoress Mrs Teresa Andrews attended and also Councillor Melanie Stevens and her husband Tim. The service reflected on the past, with hymns chosen by some who had been involved with the life of the Chapel since the formation of the FSGC. The standards of St George and the RAF Regiment Association were paraded, together with the banner of 2427 (Biggin Hill Sqn) Air Training Corps. Margaret Wilmot introduced the hymns and Tom Claxton sang solo the hymn 'Oh Jesus I have promised to serve thee to the end'.
