July 2024. It does not appear that the garden described and hoped for below, is being laid out.
Mr John Everiss, Garden Designer.
MrJohn Everiss has been a professional garden designer and landscaper for over 25 years, as well as more recently pursuing an avenue of sculpture. He graduated from Myerscough college and has designed and created timeless yet practical spaces that allow people to enjoy and embrace a new garden experience. John's work has been recognised by the Royal Horticultural Society on many occasions. He designed the RAF Benevolent Fund garden at the Royal Chelsea Flower Show in 2022. The garden was moved and recreated at the roundabout near the airport hotel
Margaret Wilmot, Secretary of the Friends and Verger writes: Recently, I was in conversation with John Everiss, the Chelsea Flower Show Exhibitor who has produced a design for the gardens in front of the Chapel. As we approach DDay 80, June 6th 2024, he talked about his imminent visit to the Garden that he designed for DDay 75. This was displayed at Chelsea Flower Show 2019 and recreated in its entirety to the cliffs overlooking Arramanches. Ghostly figures illustrate the memories, in the mind of DDay veteran Bill Pendell MM as he sits in quiet reflection of his comrades, with whom he struggled ashore on the morning of June 6th 1944. The impact of the statues and memories on the public is undiminished.
The Friends remember the sacrifices made by all. There will be a short service of commemoration at the flagpole on 6th June at 4.45pm. All are welcome, please do join us.
