The day after the very sad death of our beloved Queen, the Chapel was open as usual but the Royal Air Force Ensign flew at half mast. Many visited to sign the Book of Condolence. The atmosphere was sombre. Classical music, fitting for the occasion, was playing quietly. One visitor said - I just had to come - perhaps voicing the feeling of many. With church bells throughout the country, the Chapel bell tolled, for an hour from 12 o‘clock.
