Personal services

Baptismal services are available.  Other personal services such as funeral, memorial and burial of ashes are  available but certain criteria apply as below.

​Guidelines to meet requests for Burial of Ashes in the Garden of Remembrance

 1.  Ashes are always buried directly into the ground, not in any kind of container, and may not be scattered, either in the garden, or other parts of the grounds.
 2.  The deceased must have been:
 a.  a serving or retired member of the RAF, WRAF, WAAF or ATA  (Air Transport Auxilliary) or
b.   a member of the Biggin Hill branch of the Aircrew Association, or
c.   on the Electoral Roll of the Chapel immediately prior to death, or
d.   a regular worshipper (at least monthly) at services in the Chapel immediately prior to death
(unless prevented by ill-health or infirmity), or
e.   the spouse of a person in categories a-d above.
 3. In all cases an entry must be made in the Garden Book of Remembrance, and therelevant fees paid.

​Guidelines to meet requests for funerals in St George's RAF Chapel

 The deceased must have been:
 a.  A serving or retired member of the RAF, WRAF, WAAF or ATA (Air Transport Auxillary) or
 b.  A member of the Biggin Hill Branch of the Aircrew Association, or
 c.  On the Electoral Roll of the Chapel immediately prior to death, or
 d. A regular worshipper (at least monthly) at services in the Chapel immediately prior to death (unless prevented by ill-health or infirmity), or
 e.  The spouse of a person in categories a-d above, or
 f.  A civilian employed by MOD at the Chapel; or on the station prior to its closure.
